Offer in-store Walk-ins welcome 777 Bay St, concourse level

That old phone in your drawer is worth money

Almost everyone in Toronto has one: the old phone sitting in a drawer, replaced months ago and slowly becoming worth less. Every month you wait, it loses value — newer models come out, batteries age, and demand moves on. Selling it sooner rather than later is simply the smarter move.

College Park Wireless buys used phones, tablets and laptops at our walk-in shop at 777 Bay St. in downtown Toronto, on the concourse level next to Dollarama. No shipping your device to a stranger, no waiting days for an online quote that changes when the phone arrives, no meeting buyers from classified ads in parking lots. You walk in with your old phone, we evaluate it in front of you, and you get an offer on the spot. All repairs are done in-store at our 777 Bay St. shop — we don't offer remote support or phone unlocking.

How selling your phone works

  1. Bring your phone to the shop. No appointment needed — walk in during our hours at 777 Bay St. If you want, text us your model first at (647) 326-3848 and we will tell you whether we are buying it.
  2. We check it in front of you. Model, storage size, screen condition, buttons, cameras, speakers, charging, battery health — the full check happens at the counter while you watch. There is nothing hidden about the process.
  3. You get an offer. Based on the model, condition and current demand, we make you a clear offer. Every phone is quoted individually because no two used phones are the same.
  4. You decide. Accept and the deal is done right there. Decline and you walk out with your phone — no pressure, no obligation, no charge for the evaluation.

What affects how much your phone is worth

People often ask why two phones that "look the same" get different offers. These are the real factors:

  • Model and generation. A recent iPhone or Galaxy is worth more than a five-year-old budget phone — demand drives value.
  • Storage size. A 256GB version of a phone is worth more than the 64GB version of the same model.
  • Physical condition. A flawless phone earns more than one with a cracked screen, dents, or heavy scratches. Even small flaws matter, which is why we check carefully.
  • Full functionality. Everything should work: touch screen, cameras, speakers, microphones, buttons, charging, and battery. Anything not working reduces the offer — we test it all in front of you.
  • Account locks. A phone still signed into iCloud or a Google account, or reported lost or stolen, cannot be resold and has no value to any legitimate buyer. Sign out before you come (see below).

Because of these variables, we never quote a price without seeing the phone. Text us your model and condition at (647) 326-3848 for an offer — honest numbers for your specific device.

Before you sell: protect yourself in five minutes

Do this before you hand your phone to any buyer — us or anyone else:

  1. Back up everything. Photos, contacts, messages, authenticator apps — copy them to the cloud or a computer. Once the phone is sold, its contents are gone.
  2. Sign out of iCloud (iPhone) or your Google account (Android). This removes the activation lock. A locked phone cannot be resold by anyone, so this step is non-negotiable.
  3. Remove your SIM card and any memory card. Your number and your files stay with you.
  4. Do a factory reset. On iPhone: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Erase All Content and Settings. On Android: Settings → System → Reset → Erase all data. Only do this after your backup is confirmed.
  5. Unpair accessories like smartwatches or earbuds from the phone's Bluetooth list.
Not sure how to do any of this? Bring the phone in as-is and we will walk you through the backup and sign-out steps at the counter before the sale. It takes a few minutes and we do it with customers every day.

What to bring when you sell

  • The phone itself, charged enough to turn on and test.
  • Your passcode so we can fully test touch, cameras, speakers and settings. You will have already backed up and be ready to erase it.
  • The charger and cable if you have them — a nice bonus, not a requirement.
  • The original box and accessories if you kept them — they add a little to the appeal, though they are never required.

Do you buy broken phones?

Sometimes — it depends on the model and the damage. A popular iPhone with a cracked screen still has real value: the parts are in demand and the phone can be refurbished. An old budget phone with a shattered screen and a dead battery usually isn't worth buying. The rule is simple: text us the model and exactly what is wrong at (647) 326-3848 and we will give you a straight answer. We would rather tell you "not worth selling" honestly than waste your trip.

Trade in: put your old phone toward a new one

If you are upgrading rather than just selling, trading in is often the smoothest path. Here is how it works at our shop: we evaluate your old phone exactly as described above and agree on its trade value with you. Then, instead of taking cash, that value comes straight off a phone from our store — new or refurbished iPhones, Samsung phones and more. You walk in with an old phone and walk out with a newer one, with the difference settled on the spot. One trip, no listing, no haggling with strangers, no waiting.

Buying a refurbished phone from us

We also sell new and refurbished phones, tablets, iPads and MacBooks in the store. Refurbished means a used device that has been inspected, cleaned, tested and repaired where needed — a way to get a much better phone for considerably less than new. Our stock changes regularly as phones come in, so the honest answer to "what do you have right now?" is always a text away: message (647) 326-3848 and ask what is available today. Every device we sell is tested in-store before it goes on the shelf, and you can inspect it in your own hands before you buy — something no online listing can offer.

Why sell to a local shop instead of online

Online marketplaces can pay well, but they come with real costs: listing fees, shipping, buyers who haggle after agreeing, returns, and the occasional scam. Mail-in buyback services quote you one price online and often revise it down when your phone arrives. Selling to a walk-in shop removes all of that. You see the evaluation happen, you hear the offer face to face, and the deal is finished before you leave the store. Our shop has been serving downtown Toronto from 777 Bay St. — when you sell to us, you know exactly who has your old phone and exactly what happens next.
