In-store repairs Walk-ins welcome 777 Bay St, concourse level

Your laptop is your office — we get it fixed properly

When a laptop breaks, it is rarely just an inconvenience. It holds your work files, your school projects, your photos, your passwords — your digital life. And unlike a phone, you can't just slip it in a pocket and carry on. A cracked screen or a dead keyboard can stop your whole day.

College Park Wireless is a walk-in repair shop at 777 Bay St. in downtown Toronto, on the concourse level next to Dollarama. We repair Windows laptops from all major brands, Apple MacBooks, and desktop PCs — screens, keyboards, trackpads, batteries, charging problems, overheating and slow performance. All repairs are done in-store at our 777 Bay St. shop — we don't offer remote support or phone unlocking.

Laptop and MacBook repairs we handle

Screen replacement

Cracked, flickering, or completely black laptop screens are one of our most common jobs. We replace the display panel for Windows laptops and MacBooks — full display assembly where the design requires it. Tell us the exact model (it is usually printed on the bottom of the laptop) and we will confirm the right part.

Keyboard and trackpad repair

Keys that stick, repeat, or don't register at all; a trackpad that jumps, clicks on its own, or has stopped responding. On many laptops the keyboard is a replaceable part; on MacBooks the repair approach depends on the model. Bring it in and we will show you the options.

Battery replacement

A laptop that only works plugged in, dies within minutes off the charger, or has a trackpad or keyboard bulging upward (a possible swollen battery) needs attention. Stop using a suspected swollen battery and bring the laptop in — we handle these carefully and safely.

Charging problems

Won't charge, only charges at certain cable angles, or the charging light never comes on. The cause can be the charger, the charging port, or the internal charging circuit. Bring your charger with you — ruling out the easy cause first saves everyone time.

Slow performance and overheating

A laptop that takes forever to start, freezes constantly, or sounds like a jet engine usually has a diagnosable cause: a failing drive, not enough memory for what you're running, dust-clogged fans, or dried-out thermal paste. We find the actual bottleneck instead of guessing, then explain your options in plain language.

Hinges, cases and ports

Loose or cracked hinges, broken USB or HDMI ports, damaged power jacks — the physical wear-and-tear that comes from years of daily use. These are bench repairs we do in-store.

MacBook repair: what to know

MacBooks are well-built machines, but they are also tightly integrated — which means the right repair approach depends heavily on the exact model and year. A MacBook Air and a MacBook Pro from different years can need completely different parts and procedures for what looks like the same problem. That is why the single most useful thing you can do is find your model identifier (Apple menu → About This Mac, or the model number on the bottom case) and text it to us at (647) 326-3848 before you come in. We will tell you honestly whether your MacBook is a good candidate for repair and what it involves — including the cases where buying a replacement makes more sense than fixing, because we would rather tell you that than take your money.

Is your laptop worth repairing?

This is the question we get most, and the honest answer is: it depends on the laptop's age, what it is worth to you, and what is wrong with it. A three-year-old laptop with a cracked screen is almost always worth fixing — the repair costs a fraction of a replacement. A ten-year-old laptop with a failed motherboard usually isn't. When you bring yours in, we check it, quote the repair, and give you our straight opinion on whether the money is well spent. If the sensible answer is "put it toward a new one," we will say so — and we sell refurbished laptops in the store if you want to see your options.

What happens when you bring in your laptop

  1. We listen and inspect. Describe what is wrong and when it started. We check the obvious causes first and open it up if needed to see the real condition inside.
  2. You get a quote before any work. We explain the fault, the part or work required, and the cost. You approve it — or you don't, and you take your laptop home with no charge for the look.
  3. The repair is done at our bench, in the store. Your laptop never leaves 777 Bay St. while it is with us.
  4. You test it before you pay. Screen, keyboard, trackpad, charging, Wi-Fi — run through it yourself. We are not done until you are satisfied it works.

What affects the price of a laptop repair

  • Brand and model. MacBook parts generally cost more than equivalent Windows laptop parts, and newer or thinner models use more expensive, harder-to-source components.
  • The exact fault. A keyboard swap and a motherboard-level fault are very different jobs. Accurate diagnosis up front is why the quote matters.
  • Part availability. Parts for popular Dell, HP, Lenovo and Apple models are readily available; parts for rare or very old models can cost more or need ordering.

Text us your laptop's brand, exact model and symptoms at (647) 326-3848 and we will give you a quote for your specific machine.

What affects how long it takes

Timing depends on the model, whether the part is in stock, and what the inspection finds. A common screen or battery swap on a popular model is straightforward bench work; an unusual part that must be ordered, or a fault that needs deeper diagnosis, takes longer. Call or text (647) 326-3848 first and we will give you an honest estimate — and if you depend on the laptop for work or school, tell us, so we can plan around it where possible.

What to bring with your laptop

  • The laptop and its charger. The charger is essential — many "charging problems" turn out to be charger problems, and we test with yours.
  • Your login password. We need to get into the operating system to test the keyboard, trackpad, Wi-Fi and performance after the repair. You can change it afterward.
  • A backup of anything irreplaceable. Most hardware repairs don't touch your files, but drives can fail and accidents happen. Copy important documents, photos and work to an external drive or cloud storage before you come in.
Back up first — seriously. We say this to every laptop customer: if your files exist in exactly one place, they are one accident away from being gone. A backup takes minutes and removes all the stress from any repair.

Why a downtown walk-in shop for laptop repair

Shipping a laptop to a manufacturer depot means a week or more without your machine, and often a wiped drive coming back. Big-box "service desks" usually just ship it out too — with a markup. A local walk-in shop means your laptop stays in Toronto, you talk to the person doing the work, and you approve everything face to face. Our shop at 777 Bay St. is right downtown on the concourse level — drop it off on your way to work and deal with a real technician, not a ticket number.
